Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Lifeplanr ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lifeplanr ("we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account, installing the progressive web app, or using the Service in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Lifeplanr is a life planning progressive web application (PWA) that helps you visualize, plan, and organize your life across 90 years. The Service includes features such as:
- Life Calendar: an interactive visualization of your life in years, months, and weeks.
- Journal & Diary: a private journaling tool with mood tracking, tags, and photo attachments.
- Finance & FIRE Planning: financial tracking, budgeting, and FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) calculations.
- Travel Planner: an interactive world map for planning and documenting travels across 195 countries.
- Health & Habits Tracking: features for monitoring health metrics and building daily habits.
- People & Relationships: a way to track important people in your life with birthdays and ages.
- Budget Planner: tools for creating and managing personal budgets with custom categories.
- Themes & Customization: 7 visual themes for personalizing your experience.
The Service is provided as a web application accessible through modern web browsers and can be installed as a PWA on supported desktop and mobile devices.
3. Account Creation
The Free tier of Lifeplanr can be used without creating an account. To access Pro features, including cloud sync, you must create an account through Google Sign-In (Google OAuth). By registering, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during the registration process.
- Maintain the security of your account credentials and Google account.
- Promptly notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account and use the Service. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
4. Free and Pro Tiers
Lifeplanr offers two service tiers:
Free Tier includes:
- Life Calendar with years, months, and weeks views.
- Unlimited diary entries with mood tracking (10 moods) and custom tags.
- Life phases and events with 12 preset categories.
- People and relationships with birthday tracking.
- 10 beautiful themes.
- Data export (JSON).
- Offline support via PWA.
- All data stored locally on your device.
Pro Tier includes everything in the Free Tier, plus:
- Cloud sync across devices via Firebase.
- Google Sign-In authentication.
- Photo attachments (up to 10 per entry).
- Travel planner with interactive world map (195 countries).
- Finance tracker with full FIRE calculator (Monte Carlo, Coast FIRE, Barista FIRE).
- Health and habits tracking with streak counters.
- Budget planner with custom categories.
- Household sharing for up to 2 members.
- Multi-calendar support.
- Priority support.
Family Tier includes everything in Pro for two people under one subscription.
We reserve the right to modify the features included in each tier at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of any changes that materially reduce the functionality of your current tier.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Pro and Family subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose). All payments are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor.
- Pricing: Pro is available at $4.90/month (billed monthly) or $39/year (billed annually, equivalent to $3.25/month). Family is available at $7.90/month (billed monthly) or $59/year (billed annually, equivalent to $4.92/month). All prices are in USD.
- Free trial: new users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all Pro features. No payment information is required to start the trial. If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, you will be reverted to the Free tier with no charge.
- Billing: your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancellation: you may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds: no refunds are provided for partial billing periods. If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using the Service, contact us and we will evaluate your case individually.
- Price changes: we may change subscription prices from time to time. Any price changes will take effect at the start of the next billing cycle after we provide at least 30 days' notice.
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we may suspend access to Pro features until payment is successfully processed. We will attempt to notify you before any suspension.
6. User Content and Data Ownership
You own all of your data. Any content you create, upload, or store through the Service — including journal entries, calendar data, financial records, travel plans, health data, photos, and any other personal information — remains entirely yours.
- We claim no ownership, intellectual property rights, or license over your content beyond what is technically necessary to provide the Service.
- We will not use your content for advertising, marketing, training AI models, or any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
- You can export all of your data at any time in a portable JSON format.
- You can delete your data and account at any time from the account settings.
By using the Service, you grant us only the limited, technical permissions necessary to store, process, and display your content back to you (and to household members you have explicitly invited, if applicable).
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code of the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
- Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or other tools to access the Service in a manner that exceeds normal use.
- Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or any other harmful technology.
- Use the Service to store or transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or access to it without our written consent.
- Share your Pro account credentials with others (use the Family plan for shared access).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably determine that you have violated these acceptable use terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The Lifeplanr name, logo, branding, visual design, user interface, source code, and all related intellectual property are owned by Lifeplanr and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws, including copyright and trademark laws.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its underlying technology without our express written permission.
- You may not use the Lifeplanr name, logo, or branding in any way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without our written consent.
- All trademarks, service marks, and trade names used in the Service are the property of their respective owners.
Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use the Lifeplanr brand, trademarks, or other intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the Service as intended.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.
- We do not warrant that any data stored through the Service will be preserved, accurate, or available at all times.
- The FIRE calculator and financial tools are for informational and illustrative purposes only. They do not constitute financial advice. You should consult a qualified financial advisor before making investment or retirement decisions.
- Health tracking features are for personal monitoring only and do not constitute medical advice.
We are not responsible for data loss that occurs when using local-only storage mode. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the PWA without first exporting your data will result in permanent loss. We strongly recommend enabling cloud sync or regularly exporting your data.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.
- Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
- If you have not paid us anything, our maximum liability shall not exceed fifty euros (EUR 50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with and relies on certain third-party services. By using Lifeplanr, you acknowledge that these third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google Cloud): used for authentication, cloud data storage, and sync. Subject to Firebase Terms of Service.
- Stripe: used for payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Terms of Service.
- Google Fonts: used for typography. Subject to Google's Terms of Service.
- Google Analytics 4: used for anonymous usage analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of these third-party services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms.
12. Termination
By you: you may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from the account settings page. Upon account deletion, your cloud-synced data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Local data remains on your device until you clear it manually.
By us: we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service, with or without notice, for any of the following reasons:
- Violation of these Terms of Service or the acceptable use policy.
- Conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to other users, the Service, or third parties.
- Non-payment of subscription fees (for Pro accounts), after reasonable notice.
- Legal or regulatory requirements that compel us to do so.
- Prolonged inactivity (we will provide at least 60 days' notice before terminating inactive accounts).
Upon termination by us, we will make reasonable efforts to allow you to export your data before deletion, unless the termination is due to illegal activity or a legal requirement that prevents us from doing so.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lifeplanr and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lifeplanr regarding your use of the Service. These Terms supersede any prior agreements or communications between you and Lifeplanr regarding the Service.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Notify you via an in-app notification or email (if you have an account).
- Provide at least 30 days' notice before material changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
17. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Norway. Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation for a period of at least 30 days.
For consumers in the European Economic Area, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under applicable consumer protection legislation in your country of residence. If mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide you with greater protections than those set forth in these Terms, those protections shall apply.
