People
Relationships, birthdays, and time-left projections.
How do I add people and relationships?
People tab → Add Person → name, birth date, relationship type (family, friend, partner, etc.), and optional notes. Their age updates automatically, birthdays show on the calendar, and you can see the 'weeks-left-together' projection — a gentle reminder to show up for people you love.
Do I get birthday reminders?
Yes — opt-in push notifications the morning of, and a digest each Sunday for the upcoming week. You can also see all upcoming birthdays on the dashboard. Customize per-person in Notifications settings.
Can I keep notes per person?
Yes — free-text notes per contact (gift ideas, conversation topics, last-contacted date). Not a full CRM, but enough to be a thoughtful friend. Pro: photo attachments and custom fields.
Can I track family trees and relationships between people?
You can tag each person's relationship type (parent, sibling, child, partner, etc.) but we don't render a tree graph. The focus is on who you spend time with, not genealogy — for family trees, tools like FamilySearch or Geni do it better.
Does Lifeplanr track anniversaries?
Yes — add an anniversary date (wedding, met, moved in) per person, show on calendar, and get a yearly reminder a week out. Same system as birthdays, just a different event type. Handy for partners, cofounders, or close friends.
Can I link people to journal entries?
Tag a journal entry with a person's name (@name-style) and the entry shows on that person's detail page under 'Mentions'. Useful for tracking who you've seen in any given year, or revisiting memories with a specific person.
How does 'weeks-left-together' work?
We estimate their remaining lifespan (based on your lifespan setting) and compute the overlap with yours. For an 80-year-old parent when you're 40, you get a rough projection — e.g., '1,040 weeks of weekends left'. Sobering, motivating, and the reason this feature exists.
Can I import contacts from my phone?
No — this is intentional. People in Lifeplanr are the 30–100 relationships you actually care about, not your 2,000 phone contacts. Manual add keeps the list focused. CSV import is supported for one-time migration if you're moving from another tool.
Can I track therapy sessions or meaningful conversations?
Yes — add the therapist (or any professional) as a Person, mark relationship as 'professional', use notes per session. Many therapy clients track session-takeaways week by week to see patterns over months. Privacy: Health-tier privacy applies — never sold, never AI-trained.
How do I track a relationship with my coparent or ex?
Add as 'family' or 'professional' relationship with notes for kid-related logistics. Custody schedules can be added as recurring life-calendar events. Many divorced parents use the People notes for 'kid said this at handoff' continuity.
Can the app remind me to call someone weekly?
Yes — set a per-person reminder cadence (weekly/biweekly/monthly). On the day, you get an opt-in push notification. The 'last contacted' field updates automatically when you log an interaction. Helpful for relationships you want to maintain but easily neglect.
How are deceased relatives handled?
Mark them as 'in memoriam' with their death date. Their entry stays — birthdays still notify ('Mom would have been 80 today'), and their lifetime overlap with yours visualizes on the calendar. For many users this is the most emotionally important feature.
