Habits
Streaks, reminders, and stats for building habits that stick.
How do I create a new habit?
Habits tab → New Habit → pick an icon, color, frequency (daily / weekdays / custom days), and an optional morning or evening reminder time. That's it. Tap the day circle each morning or evening to log it. Missed days show as gaps in your streak graph.
How do streaks work?
A streak is the number of consecutive scheduled days you've logged a habit. Miss a scheduled day and the streak resets. Non-scheduled days (e.g., weekends on a weekday-only habit) don't break it. Milestones (7, 30, 100, 365 days) trigger optional push notifications.
Can I get reminders for my habits?
Yes — optional morning and evening push notifications per habit, plus a weekly streak-danger warning if you're about to break one. Requires notification permission from your browser/device. All reminder times are customizable in Settings → Notifications.
What habit stats does Lifeplanr show?
Current streak, longest streak, completion percentage (last 30 / 90 / 365 days), a daily-logging heatmap, and a weekly trend chart. Perfect weeks (all scheduled days logged) trigger a celebration notification if enabled.
How many habits can I track at once?
Free: up to 3 active habits. Pro: unlimited. Most research suggests 3–5 concurrent habits is the sweet spot — past that, compliance drops sharply. If you hit the free cap and want to try a new habit, archive an old one first.
Can I create custom habit schedules?
Yes — daily, specific weekdays (e.g., Mon/Wed/Fri), X times per week (flexible), or monthly targets. Useful for habits like 'gym 3x/week' where a daily schedule would feel like failure every off-day. The streak logic adapts to the schedule you pick.
What happens if I miss one day — does my streak reset?
Yes for rigid schedules (daily, weekday-only). For flexible schedules ('3x/week'), missing a single day doesn't break the streak as long as you hit the weekly target. You can also 'pause' a habit during travel or illness — that preserves the streak without logging.
Can I log habits for past days I forgot to mark?
Yes — tap a past day circle in the habit view and toggle it done. No grace period limit, but if you find yourself backfilling every morning, the habit probably isn't sticking for the right reason. The app doesn't judge; we just surface the data.
Do habits show up on the life calendar?
Yes, optionally — each habit can pin its year-streak badge to the calendar (e.g., a tiny 🎯 on weeks where you hit all scheduled days). Also, milestone achievements (100-day streak) pin as markers on the month/week they happened.
How is habit completion percentage calculated?
Scheduled days logged ÷ total scheduled days in the window. A daily habit completed 25 out of 30 days = 83%. A weekday-only habit completed every weekday last week = 100% regardless of weekends. Windows: 7, 30, 90, 365 days, and 'all time'.
Can I sync habits with Apple Health or Google Fit?
Not currently — habit data lives in Lifeplanr. The integration we'd build first is import (workouts from Apple Health → habit completions) rather than export. Roadmap item, requires native app first which we don't have yet.
How do I handle habits during travel days?
Two options: (1) pause the habit — it suspends streak counting until resumed, (2) use a flexible schedule like '5 times per week' so missing 1–2 travel days doesn't break it. Most experienced users pause for 7+ day trips, otherwise rely on flexibility.
Can I require a habit to be done before a certain time?
Soft yes — set the morning reminder for 6am and the evening reminder for 8pm. The habit can be checked off anytime, but the reminders frame the time window. Hard cutoffs (e.g., 'only counts if logged before 7am') is on the roadmap.
Can I create habits for my whole family?
Each person tracks their own habits. Household members can see each other's habit progress (opt-in per habit) — useful for accountability. Truly shared habits ('we all read together') are tracked individually but appear adjacent on the household dashboard.
